Temple Recreation Commission approves summer events funding, reappoints member and orders review of fund discrepancy

On April 23, 2026, the Temple Recreation Commission approved last meeting’s minutes, reappointed Alicia Gettings to a three-year term and authorized modest funding for summer events and Fourth of July activities tied to the town’s 250th anniversary.
Vivian Wills called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM. Gretchen Whitcomb, the commission treasurer, reported a Revolving Fund balance of $6,076.70 and said she is researching a discrepancy between payments recorded to the Revolving Fund and the Town General Fund for budgeted items.
Gretchen Whitcomb moved to approve the previous meeting minutes; Jen Kiley seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record that Alicia Gettings was re-appointed to the Temple Recreation Commission for a three-year term.
The commission previewed its summer event schedule and approved funding for Cruise Nights on the second Monday of June, July and August (June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10, 2026). Jen Kiley moved to allocate $350 for Cruise Night; Ebenezer Edwards seconded and the motion passed.
Commissioners also discussed Fourth of July materials for the town’s 250th anniversary. Vivian Wills and Jen Kiley will develop a 7-by-3-foot banner; Jen moved to request $200 for the banner and Gretchen seconded. The commission approved that request. The commission then previewed additional Fourth of July event modifications for the 250th anniversary; Jen moved to request $200 for those modifications, Ebenezer Edwards seconded and the motion passed.
The meeting minutes do not record roll-call tallies beyond noting “All in favor.” The next commission meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 6:30 PM.
