Dunmore Borough Council on Monday formally promoted three police officers to the rank of sergeant and approved several personnel additions intended to bolster the department’s staffing. Mayor Conway presided over the oath for Stehpon Burgette, Thomas Richardson and Michael Igoe, saying, “Tonight we’re proud to formally promote three of our police officers to the rank of sergeant.”
Chief Marchese called the promotions “well deserved,” saying the new sergeants are “three of our best young leaders” and praising their community engagement at events such as National Night Out and the borough’s Easter egg hunt. Council members offered congratulations and noted the value of having consistent supervisory leadership on each shift.
Council also moved to appoint Ryan Williams as a full-time police officer; the motion was made by Thomas Hallinan and seconded by Patrick Loughney and was approved by all members present. Mayor Conway said Williams had served part time and came “highly recommended” by department supervisors. Williams took the loyalty oath that night.
Separately, the council approved appointments for Andrew Fazio and Cade Orlandini as part-time officers. Chief Marchese said the borough is processing paperwork so the recruits can begin when they graduate from the academy next month.
The personnel actions were presented during the meeting as part of the consent and appointment portions of the agenda and were approved by voice vote of those present. The council closed the agenda item with invitations for photographs and further congratulations.
