Mount Kisco recreation commission reviews Leonard Park deed updates, reports $500 loss from food-truck event

At its June 9 meeting the Mount Kisco Recreation Commission reviewed proposed updates to the Deed Rules and Regulations for Leonard Park and discussed recent park events and maintenance.
Superintendent Kyle Thornton said the June 6 Food Truck Event was well received by the community but "did not make a profit" and probably lost about $500 overall. He told the Commission the event's 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. timeframe worked well and that seniors have asked next year's food-truck day be combined with their crafts fair.
Christine Dennett, Chair of the Recreation Commission, said the deed rules document was updated in 2019 but never sent to the Village Board. Dennett said the Commission should forward the updated draft to the Village Attorney for wording review and to ensure the deed language adequately protects Leonard Park. The minutes note that items in the draft are highlighted (blue for suggested text; yellow for questions the Commission still wants answered).
Commissioner Kim Lapple asked for specific language to be added to the deed draft, including a maximum six-foot dog-leash requirement and a statement that fishing in the park pond requires valid fishing licenses. Those requests were recorded as examples of the outstanding clarifications the Commission wants addressed before the document moves to the Village Board.
Thornton also reported a park infrastructure update: work on a bocce ball court is slated to begin on Saturday. The minutes list two Old/Unfinished Business items'an update on the Tea House and on Leonard Park ballfields'but note neither was discussed at this meeting. No new business was raised.
The meeting closed with a Good and Welfare note (a birthday wish for Linda) and a motion to adjourn; the minutes state the motion carried with "all in favor," and the minutes were submitted by Gail Hall. The Commission set its next meeting for Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
