Kensington Library to use Grange as temporary summer site; trustees set safety limits and follow-ups

Grange Trustees on June 18 agreed to allow the Kensington Library to use the Grange as a temporary location for part of the summer, but they set safety limits on what the library may move into the building and assigned several follow-up tasks.
The agreement centers on structural and logistical precautions. Meghan Gross, a trustee, said she will contact Kent Septic to schedule a recommended septic repair this summer and will send photos and a floor plan to Annette Dey so the library can determine which shelving and how many books can safely be moved; the transcript notes the library holds about 17,000 pounds of books but will transfer only what is safe, placing the rest into storage.
Trustees also handled rental logistics tied to other June events. Trustee Frank Whittemore asked Linda B. to return deposit checks for events held June 4, 6 and 7. The Suprenant memorial service scheduled for June 20 was instructed to provide a replacement deposit and payment after original checks were lost in the mail, an administrative action the trustees asked Meghan Gross to follow up on.
The board agreed the Grange will serve as a backup location for a summer camp on days of inclement weather, with the explicit exception of the first week of August (Aug. 3–7) when the library will be using the building. Trustees will request that air conditioners currently stored at Town Hall be moved to the Grange to support camp activities and notified the coffee club that camp may occupy the building on some days.
On fees, trustees reviewed the schedule and decided not to revise current rates given the planned library use.
Next steps recorded by trustees include Meghan Gross arranging the septic service, forwarding the floor plan and photos to Annette Dey, requesting replacement deposit checks where needed, and asking Town Hall about relocating air conditioners to the Grange.
