Council approves local turf management contract to try to rescue Escondido Field

Several councilors stressed the situation may be an emergency given upcoming college games and summer weather; one councilor said waiting could risk losing the field entirely.
Council voted to approve contracting with the local vendor, authorizing the mayor to sign pending the city attorney’s review. Staff were asked to continue pursuing warranty options with previous contractors while the new local contract begins remedial work.
