SOAR and Montessori charters report strong satisfaction, attendance and hands-on learning

Leaders from the district’s charter schools presented annual reports July 28 highlighting enrollment trends, attendance gains and programmatic strengths.

Robert, presenting SOAR High School’s report, said enrollment remains strong for the upcoming year (projected at 54 students, up from 53) and described a focus on hands-on expeditions and career exploration with local business partners. "Enrollment at SOAR High School continues to be strong in the upcoming year," he said, and noted that personalized plans and exhibitions are central to the school’s strategy to build strong relationships with students.

The Montessori Learning Center report celebrated the program’s 10th year and reported a 96.2% attendance rate this year — meeting the school’s 96% goal. The presenter said open-enrollment waiting lists remain (about 14%) and parent satisfaction sampled in the school’s Google survey was high. The Montessori report also highlighted summer teacher training (UFLAG literacy) and updated, more parent-friendly report cards.

Board members praised the charter schools’ efforts to reach students with different learning needs and noted the value of longitudinal tracking to assess outcomes across years. The charter reports emphasized both measurable outcomes (attendance and proficiency percentages) and qualitative successes (community partnerships and student relationships) as part of the schools’ continuous-improvement strategies.

Administrators said they will continue to monitor attendance and achievement, pursue outreach to families, and report back in future board meetings.
