County facilities director: micropiles, fiber and courthouse progress; recommendation to keep Marble Veterans statue in place

Jennifer Murray, Montrose County facilities director, briefed the board on capital-project work and a small fleet fire at the Justice Center complex.
Murray said micropiles for the North Campus project will be installed by drilling next week, utilities and fiber have been installed, and elevator startup was delayed until fiber is activated later in August. Courthouse work is progressing: tile installation on the first floor, HVAC startup completed, trim-out and landscaping underway, and parking-lot striping recently finished.
Murray also reported a small, contained fleet fire over the weekend that staff are investigating and said they will recommend mitigation steps. On the marble veterans statue outside the courthouse, Murray said the group decided to leave the 10,000-pound statue in place because Memorial Park construction has not begun, and storing the statue poses cost and damage risks; Stryker volunteered to move it if the board later decides to relocate it.
No action was required of the board at the work session; Murray said she will update commissioners at the regular meeting and during the West End school-building work session later in the week.
