Superintendent announces four community forums ahead of Sept. 15 referendum

At a meeting of the Cedar Grove Board of Education, the Superintendent announced the district will hold four community forums—one at each school—on Tuesday evenings over the next four weeks to provide information about a referendum vote scheduled for Sept. 15.

The Superintendent said the forums will include a presentation by the superintendent and each school's principal. ‘‘In three of the four forums, we'll have our architect team present,’’ the Superintendent said, and added that ‘‘on one of the forums, the bond counsel, lead lawyer will also be present’’ to take questions. The Superintendent urged residents to visit the district website for a dedicated referendum information page and said the district will respond to all emails and phone calls about the vote.

The Superintendent emphasized efforts to ensure voters can make an informed decision, saying, "The real goal and priority for us as a district is to just get as much information into the community as possible so you can make an informed decision, come September 15." The official also noted that back-to-school nights will take place prior to the vote so families can receive information in person.

The announcement included a public acknowledgment of school staff: the Superintendent thanked teachers, related-service professionals and custodial and maintenance staff for operating summer programs and preparing buildings for the school year.

The next steps offered to the public are the four advertised forums and the district's online resources; the referendum remains scheduled for Sept. 15.
