Commissioner Brian Andrews said the Mayors Alliance is drafting a letter to USACE seeking both a meeting and funding, and he praised NJDEP as “a great partner” for Cranford.
Committee members asked that all members be invited to future USACE engagements and discussed study scope. Commissioner Terrence Curran suggested any upcoming study consider both upstream and downstream impacts. Commissioner Gina Black requested regular updates from USACE and that committee members be included in outreach.
The straw vote does not itself obligate funding or authorize contracts; it signals the Township’s preference to pursue local engagement with federal and state agencies and to seek potential funding and technical assistance. The Committee did not adopt a formal resolution creating a funded study at this meeting.
Next steps noted by members included coordinating schedules with USACE and NJDEP, receiving the Mayors Alliance letter to USACE, and requesting regular staff updates to the Committee.
