The New London School District Board approved a facilities committee recommendation to award the high‑school roof replacement work to Northern Metal and Roofing, the lowest bidder, and approved related budget items and monthly expenditures at its Jan. 7 meeting.
Facilities staff told the board the roof work has been planned over several years and is funded through referendum funds; the committee asked bidders about metal supply and contractor capacity. “They assured that they know... they need to continue to demonstrate that they have the capacity to do the project within the timeline,” staff reported.
During the meeting the board approved expenditures totaling $993,555.06 as presented and recorded receipts from the 01/07/2026 register of $1,511,001.37. Staff also reported progress on the stadium project (RJF Constructions) paid from Fund 46 and noted the line‑of‑credit disbursements will be paid down now that tax receipts arrived.
Board members voiced general support for awarding the roofing contract and confirmed readiness to schedule work in spring and summer with the goal of completing the roofing before students return. The motion to approve the 2026 roof replacement carried on a voice roll call at the meeting.
