Schmiedt and Luke Sherry reviewed sampling locations and major findings: Lakeshore & Beverly; Sleepy Hollow by Lauerman; a wetland near Pinecrest Marina; the South Shore Tributary; South Shore Country Club; and Cedar Creek at the lake outflow. Several sites showed higher‑than‑expected suspended solids and dissolved solids; pH readings were also described as "off the charts" at one site.
Staff noted the sampling covered roughly 37 locations at a cost near $18,000 (about $600–$700 per site), and recommended at minimum annual testing to create a baseline and additional testing after projects (for example, after installing a sediment collection device or completing a sewer/storm improvement). Board members agreed an annual baseline made sense and asked staff to consider adding instruments or targeted post‑project tests.
The board discussed presentation options for public consumption; staff offered to format results for the town website so residents can view the main indicators. No formal funding decision was made; staff will include monitoring costs in future budget discussions.
