The City of Montrose council amended and approved its consent agenda July 13 to include a resolution authorizing the city to submit a point-source implementation grant application (from Bolton and Mink). The council then approved the consent agenda.
As part of that action the council approved Resolution 2026‑34 to accept Finnegan DeWitt as a reserve firefighter effective June 23, 2026. A Montrose Fire Department representative asked DeWitt to stand and be introduced; the council voted 4–0 to approve the resolution. The speaker noted reserves are not covered under PERA and that DeWitt will attend Hennepin Tech’s fire-rescue program.
The council also approved the appointment of Carla White to the Planning & Zoning Commission and approved a $300 payment to the sheriff’s office to provide coverage for an alcohol‑served parks event tied to Music in the Park; both motions passed 4–0.
Notes and next steps: the grant authorization was added to consent at council direction and will move forward as part of the consent package. The new reserve firefighter will be onboarded per department procedures and the planning commission appointment will be added to commission records.
