Board approves 'do not feed the animals' policy for airport tenants

The board approved a draft "do not feed the animals" policy after staff explained it followed a wildlife survey recommendation.
John, the airport director, said the proposal will move to county council with a resolution to be added to the airport rule book. He explained enforcement largely applies to tenants under their agreements: "...it's geared mostly the only people we can really influence are tenants...that would violate the agreement that any tenant has with the airport because there's a catch all phrase in all of our agreements that say that they have to abide by all rules and regulations," he said.
A board member asked what would happen if an individual repeatedly violated the policy; the director acknowledged that enforcement is easier for tenants and that habitual individual violations present a challenge. The resolution was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
The approved policy will be forwarded to county council for final adoption and inclusion in the airport's rules and regulations.
