The airport director told the board that Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) #6, which applies to Hilton Head, is under final FAA review and might be implemented as soon as November.
The director said once implemented the PFC collections will resume on tickets and will provide funds to repay sponsor-share portions of projects at Hilton Head. "That'll mean we'll, you know, start collecting the PFCs again on those, on the tickets, and that helps off-site that pays us back for our portion of projects," the director said.
Board members noted the current per-ticket PFC rate has remained $4.50 for many years and asked whether that amount would change; staff said there is ongoing discussion but no imminent change was expected.
No formal action was taken; staff said they will notify the board when FAA approval is final and when collections would begin.
