Mayor Randy Hettich announced an America 250 event to be held at City Hall on June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., thanked event sponsors (Mighty Green; Printcorp; Moda Boutique; Corky's LLC; Argo Pharmacy) and reminded attendees that City Hall will be closed on Thursday, July 2 for the Independence Day holiday.
The Jr. Council said it will host a community Trivia Night on July 11 and asked for sponsors to provide prizes. Council members also discussed a tentative community go‑kart event, with Mayor Pro‑Tem Corky Massey proposing August 3 at 1:30 p.m. as a possible date.
Councilperson Rick Hopkins recognized the Parks and Recreation Board for its work on Spring Fest and the recent 250 event and said fall festival planning is next. The mayor suggested holding the fall festival in the Argo Business District and noted that because Oct. 31 falls on a Saturday this year, that date is tentatively under consideration.
These items were presented as announcements and planning matters; the minutes do not record formal votes or budget approvals tied specifically to the events. The council then moved on to new business and later adjourned.
