Glen Ridge council approves audit corrective actions, certifies annual audit and awards Mayolis Avenue paving contract

The Glen Ridge Mayor and Council on the meeting record approved a set of routine finance measures and a public-works contract.

Councilor Lefkowitz moved, and Councilor Toriano seconded, a resolution (1 10-26) approving claims and warrants listed in the agenda; the motion passed on a roll-call vote. Lefkowitz then moved resolution 1 11-26, approving a corrective action plan that responds to two minor auditor findings from the 2025 municipal audit — one related to purchase procedures and one to the animal-control fund and dog licensing — which Lefkowitz described as “operational issues” rather than problems with financial recordkeeping. The council approved that measure by roll call.

Lefkowitz also moved resolution 1 12-26 certifying the borough’s annual audit. During discussion the presiding officer complimented the borough CFO, Matt, and Lefkowitz for producing what the presiding officer characterized as a “clean audit.” The council approved the certification by roll call.

On infrastructure, Councilor Toriano presented resolution 1 13-26 to award the Mayolis Avenue paving contract to Philly and Son General Construction for $250,863, funded through the local transportation program (subject to NJDOT approval). Toriano noted the borough received multiple bids and that the contract goes to the lowest responsible bidder; the council approved the award by roll call.

Finally, the council approved resolution 1 14-26 authorizing Glen Ridge’s inclusion in the Essex County urban county community development program, making the borough eligible for HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and related federal funding for federal fiscal years 2027–2029 (10/01/2026–09/30/2029).
