Turlock honors longtime resident, recognizes new businesses and names a deputy fire chief

Guneet Bella, a Turlock student and founder of the Remedy Project, proposed establishing a Turlock Youth Council to increase youth civic engagement, leadership development and partnerships with schools and local organizations; she offered to continue working with city leadership to develop a sustainable model.
A fire‑department official introduced Jeffrey Serpa as the new deputy fire chief and summarized his career and qualifications, saying the department and council have confidence in his leadership. The council welcomed the appointee and thanked those involved in the selection panel.
