Commissioners approve homeland security subawards and a $5,500 grant budget adjustment

County staff told commissioners on July 14 that Cole County will receive subawards from the State Emergency Management Agency to support four projects: a badge/ID printer, technology upgrades for the Mobile Emergency Operations Center (MEOC), a portable radio cache for emergency management, and equipment for the hazmat team.
"The 1st being... the badge printer and ID marker that we use for emergency operations. The 2nd being for the technology in the MEOC. The 3rd is a portable radio cache for EM. And the last 1 is for the hazmat team itself," an agency official explained while presenting the packet of original documents requiring signature.
Commissioner discussion focused on signature logistics for original pages; staff noted originals must be signed and initialed on every page. The commission voted to approve and sign the subawards and authorized Sam to sign originals and staff to DocuSign where appropriate.
Separately, staff asked the commission to approve a $5,500 budget adjustment to an existing homeland security grant. The commission approved the $5,500 adjustment and authorized Sam and staff to DocuSign the grant paperwork before the close of business that day.
Next steps: Staff will finalize signature routing and complete DocuSign authorization; the county will implement the subaward projects as described in the grant documents.
