The Alburnett City Council approved several routine contracts and resolutions during its July 9 meeting, including a GIS hosting renewal, a flagpole purchase, park‑shelter design services and a procedural code‑compliance resolution.
GIS: Staff recommended renewal of the city’s GIS hosting and maintenance agreement with HR Green. The contract covers system updates and regular maintenance at $3,096 for system services and up to $2,000 for supplemental support; the council approved the renewal in a motion recorded during the meeting (total not to exceed $5,096).
Flagpole: Council considered two vendors and two mounting/halyard options for a new 30‑foot pole at city hall. After discussion about internal versus external halyard systems and wind ratings, the council approved resolution 07‑2026‑02 to purchase an internal‑halyard pole from NESPER Signs in an amount not to exceed $9,415, with the Toddville American Legion to furnish the U.S. and Iowa flags.
Park shelter architect: To avoid purchasing a kit and to encourage competitive bids, the council approved a professional‑services agreement for architectural design of the Alburnett city park shelter with Bolton in an amount not to exceed $12,280 (resolution 07‑2026‑03).
Code compliance procedure: Council adopted resolution 07‑2026‑04 to implement a city code‑compliance inspection and enforcement procedure that standardizes inspection timing, documentation and county coordination; staff will implement the procedures immediately.
Appointment: Council voted to fill a Planning & Zoning Commission vacancy and appointed Ama Bartlett to serve the unexpired term ending January 2028 (resolution 07‑2026‑05).
All listed motions passed by voice vote; the meeting record does not include roll‑call tallies for each matter. Council stated staff will return with necessary follow‑up items (ordinance drafts, contracts and change orders) as required by each program.
