The Radcliff work session on July 13 opened with the police chief reporting the department successfully completed an AACP accreditation inspection and will be recognized at the KACP Chiefs Conference next month.
City leaders said the accreditation triggered required policy updates. “These policies here are ones that they now require for accreditation,” the police chief said, adding the department will adopt the new policies to maintain its accredited status.
Chief Jeff announced the recent hire of a lateral officer, Brooke Russell, who comes with about six and a half years of experience including time with Henderson Police Department and recent service in Panama City. “Her name is Brooke Russell,” the chief said. He described the onboarding process for laterals: “We give them up to 8 weeks if they need that,” referring to field training and familiarization with the city.
Council members credited a recent pay increase approved in the city budget with helping recruit and retain officers. The chair said the budget change “helped us retain and keep good officers” and that additional hires and some retirees were expected to fill open slots.
No formal motions or votes were taken on personnel actions during the work session. The police update concluded with brief administrative questions about paperwork for pending hires.
