Littleton Elementary District adopts 2027–2031 strategic plan after months of community engagement

After a six-month planning process and 823 stakeholder surveys, the Littleton Elementary District governing board voted to adopt a five-year strategic plan that sets targets for academic growth, employee retention and community engagement for 2027–2031.
The Littleton Elementary District governing board adopted a 2027–2031 strategic plan at its July meeting following a presentation by a K‑12 Coalition consultant and community steering committee members.
The plan, the product of roughly six months of work, was informed by a 25-member steering committee, focus groups with students, families and staff, and 823 completed stakeholder surveys, the consultant said. It sets five priority areas: high-quality teaching and academics; talent development, recruitment and retention; family and community partnerships; well-being, safety and inclusion; and operations, facilities and organizational effectiveness.
"Across all of the different stakeholders, we heard that there is belief that every student can succeed," the consultant said during the presentation. The plan includes 2031 targets and an annual measurement approach that uses district baseline data to set year-to-year goals.
Assistant Principal Eric Nelson of Tres Rios praised the process as collaborative, saying the steering committee included parents, teachers and community members who helped shape the plan. Michael Robinson, director at Catholic Charities Westside Head Start, told the board the superintendent had been intentional about community partnership and cited outreach events that drew hundreds of families.
Board members commended the plan’s emphasis on inclusion and student-centered values, and asked staff to return with details about operationalizing the plan and how the board will hold itself accountable to its goals. The board scheduled follow-up briefings and a study session on implementation.
A motion to approve the Littleton District strategic plan for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 passed by roll call vote. The administration said the next step is to work with cabinet members to translate the plan into annual commitments and measurable indicators to be monitored going forward.
