Township managers told the Board of Commissioners that construction began last week on the new activity center and that internal demolition has started. Bonds were in place and the manager said project meetings will occur every two weeks as work progresses.
"We did begin construction on the activity center... work began last week. They're starting with the internal demo," the manager said, noting that general-contractor and construction-management teams are on site and the project appears to be proceeding smoothly so far.
At the same meeting the board approved the second pay application to FieldTurf Inc. for $70,162.62 related to the Fairview multipurpose fields; the clerk read the remaining contract balance as $2,399,321.69. The approval carried by voice vote.
The manager said the township will invite the general contractor or construction management team to provide updates to the board when the project reaches additional milestones.
Next procedural steps include continued biweekly project meetings, verification of pay-application work by staff, and the usual project oversight through construction closeout.
