South Fayette commissioners approve subdivision, bond reductions, contractor payment and two grant applications

The South Fayette Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine development and grant actions at its July 8 meeting, including a minor-subdivision consolidation, two bond reductions, a contractor pay application and two grant applications.
The board unanimously approved the Weinman consolidation plan — joining two parcels along Toms Run — after township engineering staff said the applicant had addressed all comments. Jason, the township engineer, told the board the plan had been revised to staff satisfaction and recommended approval.
The board also amended and approved a reduction of the south-phase bond for Apex Newbury to $996,905.45, leaving a balance of $31,675.03. Township staff had field-verified the request and recommended a slightly lower reduction than the developer sought to account for outstanding corrective items, including plantings and guide-rail work.
A second bond reduction — for Cigars International — was amended and approved at $399,015.98, leaving $19,638.05 to cover minor pavement corrective work staff identified. The engineer stated that a small withholding was warranted because a few pavement items remained to be remedied.
The board approved the second pay application to FieldTurf Inc. for the Fairview multipurpose fields in the amount of $70,162.62, leaving a contract balance the clerk read as $2,399,321.69.
On grants, the board adopted a resolution authorizing the township manager to submit a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program application for $215,000 for the Sturgeon Park playground and adopted a second resolution to submit a DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund application for $150,000 to support Panhandle Trail paving phase 2.
Several routine motions were passed by voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the meeting transcript. The board tabled an item to advertise a parks labor position and moved it into executive session for further consideration.
The meeting adjourned after public comment closed with no speakers.
