The Kamas City Council on July 14 adopted Ordinance 2026-20, an amendment to the definitions in Kamas Municipal Code section 15.02.010.
Jill, the staff presenter, described the item as the final code amendment proposed by the committee tasked with updating definitions. “This is our final, hopefully, code amendment for the definitions of the Kamas Municipal Code 15.02.010,” she said, and noted the Planning Commission and the definitions committee had reviewed the proposed language and recommended adoption.
Councilor Leslie Staples made the motion to adopt Ordinance 2026-20; another member seconded. The chair called the vote, and the council approved the ordinance unanimously.
Council members praised the presentation materials and the work of the Planning Commission. The chair said the committee had “done an amazing job of presenting this in a way that you can see … the process that happened,” and a councilor noted the color coding and supporting materials made the revisions easy to follow.
The ordinance updates the code’s definitions as presented in the meeting’s exhibit; staff characterized the changes as clarifying and administrative rather than substantive policy shifts. The council moved on to review an updated official zoning map later in the meeting.
Outcome: Ordinance 2026-20 — adopted. The transcript shows a unanimous council vote in favor.
