The Farmington Town Board on June 24 accepted introduction of a preliminary draft of Local Law No. 3 of 2026, which would amend Chapter 155 (Vehicles, Recreational) to add regulations for e-bikes and other electric-assist vehicles, and declared a two-week review period for public comments.
A town operations representative said the local law draft passed the committee and will be posted on the town website for review. The board agreed the town will decide at its July 14 meeting whether to schedule a public hearing; if scheduled, the public hearing would occur at the board meeting on July 28.
Chair said copies of the proposed changes were made available at the meeting and that the draft has been forwarded to the sheriff’s office, the county district attorney’s office and the town attorney for review. The board received at least one comment back by late afternoon the day the draft was posted.
What happens next: the draft will be posted for a two-week public comment period; the board will determine on July 14 whether to set a public hearing, currently slated for July 28 if scheduled.
