North East officials report progress on Old Lock‑Up restoration, Main Street cameras and wayfinding signs

Mayor Kelly Benson said he has met with landscape architects YSM on next steps for the North East Preserve masterplan and continues work with staff on the Wayfinding Sign Project; he thanked Assistant Town Administrator Grant Handley for his work on wrapping the project up in the coming weeks. Handley reported restoration work on the Old Lock‑Up is continuing and that all electrical work is complete. He added that cameras will be installed along North Main Street now that electric service to pedestrian poles is finalized; Chief Stephan Yates said cameras on South Main Street have been used effectively by the police department.
Other operational updates included an ordered replacement light pole for the Ridgely Forest entrance and ongoing efforts to reinstall banners across Main Street. Staff also noted preparations to host the Maryland Municipal League chapter meeting in December.
