The commission noted there had previously been signs on the eastbound side and that recent encounters with a broken-down van highlighted recurring problems. The proposed extension would add roughly 424 feet west from Garside Street to the existing posted area.
A commissioner moved to extend the prohibition and a second was recorded; the motion passed on voice vote. The commission instructed staff to add signage for the westbound side consistent with existing eastbound signage and to coordinate enforcement as needed.
The change is intended to improve vehicle navigation across the bridge; the exact sign locations and enforcement timeline will be set by traffic staff.
