During the June 11 meeting, Superintendent Debbie Haertling briefed the Altenburg District #48 Board of Education on summer maintenance and recent grant activity and the board discussed after-school care coverage options.
Haertling said painting is complete in the 5th/6th grade classroom, floors are nearly finished, and that Roger is scheduled to start roof work in July. She also reported that the ASC grant and the Pre-K grant have been submitted for the 2026–2027 school year.
The board held a discussion about possible options for additional after-school care coverage but recorded no final decision; the item will return to a future agenda for further action.
After adjourning open session at 7:14 p.m., the board moved into closed session "pursuant to 610.021(1) RSMo" to discuss hiring, firing, discipline or promotion of district personnel and "certain legal consideration." The roll call recorded yea votes for Andew Lichtenegger, Mark Scholl, Amanda Klaus, Lindsay Palisch, Brittany Hecht and Cary Roth; the motion to enter closed session was approved as recorded in the minutes.
