Corydon council tables revised trash contract with Midwest Sanitation

The Corydon City Council on July 8 discussed a proposed revision to the city’s residential trash and recycling contract with Midwest Sanitation but voted to table final approval until the next meeting.
Bryan Vander Meiden, representing Midwest Sanitation, outlined proposed pricing that would set the rate at $26.86 per month multiplied by the number of residential units beginning Aug. 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, with a 3% automatic increase on July 1 in subsequent years and an overall term through June 30, 2031. Clerk Stacy Gibbs said she would work with Vander Meiden to produce a final contract that reflected the council’s discussion.
Councilor Christian moved to postpone taking final action and asked staff to return with a revised contract; the motion was seconded and carried with Councilors Christian, Dresser, Holmes and Wolfe voting aye and no votes against.
The council did not adopt the contract at the meeting; the item was tabled for a future meeting so that the city clerk and the vendor can finalize terms and present a final draft for approval.
