Richland County reports road paving progress, new hire and upcoming retirement
Summary
County highway staff reported paving work starting on County Road 16, completion of paving on several other county roads with approach graveling, a new hire, and an upcoming retirement effective Oct. 15.
Highway Department staff updated the Richland County Board of Commissioners on roadwork and staffing at the Oct. 1 meeting.
Jesse Sedler said paving began on County Road 16 and is expected to take about 10 days, with the road limited to local traffic until shoulders are completed. He reported paving is finished on County Roads 8, 3, 26 and 2N and that gravel is being placed at approaches. Sedler announced Cory Metcalf will start as a new hire that day and that long-time employee Mark Vetter will retire on Oct. 15, 2024.
The report was presented as part of routine departmental updates; the board did not take a formal vote on these operational items during the meeting.
