Stanford Water Department presents 2025–26 Water/Sewer budget; first reading held

Ryan Owens, director of the Stanford Water Department, presented the proposed Water and Sewer budget for fiscal year 2025–26 at the May 8 council meeting and answered council members’ procedural questions before the council conducted a first reading.
Owens told the council that pay increases in the proposed Water/Sewer budget are not applied across the board. "Raises are not across the board and are based on evaluations and position retention," Owens said. He asked council members and the public to email questions about the budget because he will not be available to attend the June meeting where the ordinance will return for further consideration.
Council discussion around the presentation included brief local maintenance issues raised elsewhere on the agenda. Police Chief Zach Middleton responded to a council question about a mirror behind Coleman's, confirming "yes, it has been replaced." Councilman Jerry Wilkinson reported that an early warning light installed at the Forest Hills/Lincoln Plaza/150 intersection is not functioning; Chief Middleton said his department will monitor the light.
The council voted to entertain the first reading of the Water/Sewer Budget Ordinance 2025/2026; City Clerk Jone Allen conducted the reading. No final action on the water/sewer budget was taken at this meeting; the ordinance will return for a subsequent reading and possible adoption.
