Stanford council approves KYTC repair agreement, community donations and designates presiding councilman

Mayor Miller presented several consent and informational items at the March 13 Stanford City Council meeting that the council approved by voice vote or consensus.
The council approved Memorandum of Agreement MOA 2025-0313 with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to cover emergency repairs to Cutoff Street totaling $24,190. Councilman Eddie Carter moved to approve the resolution and Councilman Joe Tackett seconded; the motion carried with all members present voting in favor.
The council approved a $300 donation to the Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt at Veteran's Park (motion by Councilman Joe Tackett, second by Councilman Jason Hignite) and a $500 sponsorship to the Lincoln County Veterans Suicide Coalition (motion by Councilman Tackett, second by Councilman Hignite); both votes were recorded as unanimous.
Mayor Miller reported he had authorized urgent depot repairs—replacing rotted boards—estimated at about $1,000. He presented painting quotes for the depot caboose: $2,140 to paint with a roller using a high-end tractor paint, $792 to repair the small yellow caboose, and $6,364 for automotive paint. The council reached consensus to accept the $2,140 roller/tractor-paint bid and proceed with the urgent board repairs.
Mayor Miller also introduced municipal order MO-20250313 to designate a council member to preside over meetings if he is unable to attend because of upcoming medical procedures. After nominations, Councilman Jerry Wilkinson accepted nomination and the order designates him to preside in the mayor's absence; the order is effective through November 2026.
The meeting closed with announcements about the Logan's Fort DAR marker dedication, 250th Anniversary events starting in May, a household hazardous waste disposal event on March 29, and a reminder that spring cleanup will run March 31–April 11 with one pickup per household. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
