Stanford council approves appointments, reviews budget collection and flags Cut‑Off Street safety issue

Mayor Dalton Miller presented multiple administrative items during the Feb. 13 meeting. The council approved appointments: Dawn Atkins to the Ambulance Board (a Frankfort-approved, unpaid position), Katrina Salyers and Trivia Hebrock to the Ethics Board, and the reappointment of Susan Miller to the Ethics Board; the motion to accept the appointments was made by Councilman Joe Tackett and seconded by Councilman Jerry Wilkinson.
The mayor reported that 92% of property taxes have been collected for the period covered by the budget packet and said overall revenues and expenses are on target for this time of year. He reminded the council of an annual training banquet scheduled for Feb. 17 in the Lincoln County High School cafeteria and noted two industrial-park build-ready sites suitable for 100,000-square-foot buildings.
Mayor Miller said he, Councilman Ronnie Deatherage and Judge Executive Adams met with District 8 Transportation in Somerset about additional lighting and speed considerations on U.S. 150; a supplementary signal head will be installed on the right-hand pole as an early warning measure and another speed study will be conducted later. He also warned residents about a section of Cut‑Off Street that is collapsing and currently covered by plates; the state is sending an engineer to study the issue and an approximate repair cost of $25,000 was mentioned.
With no further business, Councilman Bill Miracle moved to adjourn, Councilman Ronnie Deatherage seconded, and Mayor Miller adjourned the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
