Richland County awards Gladen Construction contract and reviews 2025 road program

Richland County commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 17 to approve and sign a contract with Gladen Construction and heard a detailed briefing on roadwork planned for 2025 and later years.
Highway Engineer Jesse Sedler reported the county intends to perform about 21 miles of seal coat (including County Road 1 and County Road 23), 31 miles of tile work on several county roads, a 10.5-mile overlay of County Road 81 from State Highway 11 to the Lemars elevator, and the final two miles of County Road 3. Sedler also said the county plans to crush approximately 125,000 tons of gravel to support surface maintenance.
Sedler listed future projects by year: reconstruction of County Road 1 (2026), paving County Road 4 from Colfax to County Road 2 (2028), and a 2030 project on County Road 21. The board discussed the county boring policy but made no new policy change at the meeting.
Commissioner Nathan Berseth moved and Commissioner Terry Goerger seconded to approve and sign the contract with Gladen Construction; the vote was unanimous. Commissioners asked staff to coordinate scheduling, ensure project limits are clear in the contract, and return any required permitting or policy items for approval before construction begins.
