Franklin Borough School District board approves personnel changes including resignations, hires and pay adjustments

On Feb. 10 the Franklin Borough School District Board of Education approved a package of personnel actions that included rescinding a previously approved part‑time paraprofessional appointment, accepting a full‑time teacher's resignation, appointing mentors and substitutes, and amending paraprofessional hourly rates.
The board rescinded the appointment of Jennifer Carrelo (part‑time paraprofessional) and accepted the resignation of full‑time teacher Rebecca Szymansky effective March 31, 2025. The board approved Shannon Zaremba as a mentor for provisional teacher Deanna Masucci for a 30‑week mentoring period and approved certified staff for High Impact Tutoring funded through that grant.
Personnel actions also amended the hourly rate for paraprofessional Yesenia Taylor to $19.00 per hour plus a $2.00 per hour differential for higher levels of care effective Feb. 6, 2025, and rescinded a $2.00 per hour differential for Angelica Muniz effective on or about Feb. 11, 2025. The board appointed Christine Villegas (.71 FTE part‑time paraprofessional) and approved Amanda Pait as a long‑term substitute teacher for a specified short term. The board also approved Tchaka Shipp as a substitute teacher at $150 per day pending required paperwork.
These personnel items were approved as part of a grouped motion presented by Erin Henry and seconded by Wayne Bartron. The minutes show the package of resolutions was carried by roll call vote.
The board approved three hours of CPI (Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention) professional development for a list of paraprofessionals and staff, with compensation upon submission of timesheets. Several unpaid leave days were approved for specific employees as listed in the minutes.
The board returned to open session later the same evening and adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
