The Franklin Borough School District Board of Education on Feb. 10 authorized Northeastern Interior Services, LLC to renovate restrooms in the Pre‑K Annex at a total cost of $374,675 and approved a capital reserve withdrawal to cover the district’s share.
Business Administrator and Board Secretary Carlos Sarmiento told the board the district will be responsible for 60% of the project cost and expects to be reimbursed for the remaining 40% through the Preschool Expansion Grant. The board approved both the vendor estimate (#14735, dated Feb. 4, 2025) and a $374,675 withdrawal from Capital Reserve to fund the work.
At the same meeting the board approved vendor payments dated Jan. 11 through Feb. 7, 2025, showing combined totals across funds equal to $1,000,435.95. The Board also accepted the Board Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports for December 2024 certifying that, as of that month, no major account or fund was overexpended in violation of N.J. administrative rules and school law.
The board authorized submission of a FY2025 Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) application with a potential award of up to $100,000 and accepted a donation of 11 vape sensors from the Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services.
Board members approved the financial package by roll call vote as part of the Finance/Buildings & Grounds agenda; no dissent was recorded on the motions presented. The board also authorized the Business Administrator to run an additional vendor payments list prior to the March 10, 2025 meeting.
The board returned to open session and adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
