Board approves resignations, hires and $2/hour paraprofessional differential
Summary

On Jan. 13 the Franklin Borough School District Board approved multiple personnel items recommended by Superintendent John R. Giacchi.
Resignations accepted included part-time paraprofessionals Christina Barben (last worked Jan. 10, 2025), Elda Gamella (approx. last day Jan. 17, 2025) and Tori Rowe (last day Jan. 17, 2025). The board approved a $2-per-hour compensation differential for paraprofessionals who provide a higher level of care; the minutes list Kiara Rodriguez as receiving the differential from Nov. 20, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
The board appointed part-time paraprofessionals Jennifer Carrelo and Caitlin Collins (each .71 FTE, about Jan. 21 start), approved Roger DeGroat as a long-term substitute (Jan. 27–Mar. 7, 2025), and approved Melissa Devido as a speech-language pathologist (on-guide MA Step 2, prorated) and Deanna Masucci as a full-time teacher (BA Step 1, prorated) with the start dates and salary guides listed in the minutes. Two substitute teachers—Brandi DiCarlo and Amanda Pait—were approved pending required paperwork, at $150 per day. The board also approved three online professional-development registrations for Lisa Grillo ($295 each) on March dates listed.
The personnel package (Items A–F) was moved by Rachel Kabbash, seconded by Erin Henry, and carried unanimously by roll call vote.
