Richland County approves two part-time dispatch hires and routine agenda items

The Richland County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 3 unanimously approved two part-time hires for the county dispatch center to reduce overtime, following a staffing request from Jill Breuer.
Jill Breuer, a county staff member who presented the dispatch request, said the department currently has two open positions and one staff member in training and asked the board to allow two part-time hires to fill gaps and lessen overtime burdens. Commissioner Nathan Berseth moved to approve the hires; Commissioner Rollie Ehlert seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved the meeting agenda, the Aug. 6 minutes and the Treasurer’s Report during routine procedural business. Those motions were made and seconded by Commissioners Rollie Ehlert, Tim Campbell and Terry Goerger and passed by unanimous votes.
Commissioner Rollie Ehlert moved and Commissioner Terry Goerger seconded approval of payment of bills for August; the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting record lists payroll of $783,637.24 and expenses of $2,042,030.94 for August, for a combined total of $2,825,668.18 across county funds, including the County Highway, 911 Communications, Public Health and American Rescue Plan funds. The minutes provide line-item fund breakdowns.
