The Denali Borough School District board approved the noncertified exempt contract of Justin Mason for the 2024-25 school year and formally welcomed Joe Krause, the district's new principal/teacher at Cantwell and Everest.
Trustee Jenna moved to approve the noncertified exempt contract for Justin Mason; the motion passed by unanimous roll call. Superintendent Dan described Mason as an experienced technology assistant whose problem-solving skills made him a strong fit for the expanded role.
Earlier in the meeting Dan introduced Joe Krause as the new principal/teacher assigned mostly to Cantwell (with responsibilities at Everest); Krause said he's eager to meet students and staff and to work on enrollment. Trustees asked about travel logistics between sites (Dan and Krause noted the schools are roughly 80 miles apart) and welcomed Krause to the district. The board had an action item on the agenda to formally hire and replace a position; the Mason contract vote was recorded as approved.
