The Denali Borough School District board voted to approve the administration's recommended FY26 six-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) request for submission to the state.
Superintendent Dan outlined the application process and said the district focuses on its top three projects for potential state funding. The projects highlighted in the meeting packet and discussion were: replacement or upgrades to Tri Valley's wastewater/septic system, major electrical/control-panel work across sites, and right-sized generator replacements (noting generator siting and pad/electrical connection costs could create overages beyond the grant award).
Trustees asked questions about project order, reimbursement thresholds (projects typically need to meet a minimum amount for state reimbursement) and whether already-completed work could be listed for reimbursement; Dan said the department asks for a comprehensive list so it understands district needs and to capture reimbursement opportunities. Trustee Boris cautioned the generator project may incur additional site-prep and electrical connection costs beyond equipment prices; the board accepted that risk and approved the CIP request by roll-call vote.
