Stamping Ground commission approves equipment leases, contracts and routine financial items

The Stamping Ground City Commission approved several routine operational actions during its Nov. 19 meeting, voting unanimously on equipment leases, contracts, and financial items.
Police and payroll: The commission discussed how to record employee vacation and sick days; City Clerk Michelle Randolph said the employee handbook needs revision and recordkeeping could begin in January. Separately, the commission approved a contract to lease MDT laptops for the police department. Commissioner Billy Swartz moved to accept the lease and Commissioner Jennifer Jones seconded; the motion passed 5-0.
Fire department: Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Tackett reported he and City Clerk Michelle Randolph were still investigating an ABC transaction and requested permission to begin paperwork for a fleet gas credit card. Commissioner Billy Swartz moved to allow Asst. Chief Andrew to start the paperwork; Commissioner David Clark seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
Streets and snow removal: Streets Commissioner Billy Swartz reported that Royce Dearinger provided the snow removal contract, which he said is the same as last year with an updated date and that the city has extra salt available from last season. Mayor Keith Murphy moved to accept the snow removal contract; Commissioner Billy Swartz seconded and the motion passed 5-0. Swartz also reported potholes on Commonwealth Drive and Springview Drive have been fixed.
Financials and minutes: Commissioner Billy Swartz moved and Commissioner David Clark seconded approval of the October 2024 financial statements; the commission approved them 5-0. The Nov. 5, 2024 meeting minutes were also approved by a 5-0 vote on a motion by Swartz and second by Jones.
All recorded motions on these operational items passed unanimously, and the minutes state implementation tasks (such as posting documents or starting paperwork) will be handled by the clerk or relevant departments.
