The Hazen City Commission voted to approve the larger of two proposed electrical panels at Heritage Park to serve food trucks and other events, with commissioners stipulating that hookup, disconnection and usage fees be billed to event organizers.
Committee members presented two options for permanent power near the library shelter: a smaller 8-circuit panel and a larger 30-circuit panel that would allow expansion. Committee materials also described three 50-amp outlets and multiple 120V circuits to support food-truck operations. Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to approve the larger panel model with the condition that the meter connection, disconnection and usage costs be passed along to the event organizer; the motion carried by roll call.
Speakers discussed location trade-offs, vendor cord lengths, and possible future uses, including seasonal lighting. One organizer said the panel would reduce vendors’ need to run noisy generators and improve the event atmosphere. Commissioners asked staff to implement a sign-up/fee process for vendors and to revisit public-use access at a later date.
The vote instructs staff to execute the electrical installation per the approved option and to institute fee procedures for meter hookup, disconnection and usage.
