Residents press commissioners on proposed Dovetail Road shift; road crew reports equipment repairs and planned projects

The Bradys described the proposed location and raised questions about costs, labor and required materials. Commissioners and Road Department staff discussed the proposal and said, at best, the project might occur within about five years.
Road Department Supervisor Ray Rowton reported the John Deere grader is back in service after a computer‑setting issue affected the 6‑wheel drive; the new transmission carries a three‑year warranty. Rowton said crews are currently grading Tin Can and that Jeremy is working on Old Cat Road and Ohio Wells and will move on to the 79 Trail. Kelby is assigned to mowing for the next few weeks. Rowton also noted that cows have chewed wiring on a scraper that will need repairs.
Rowton told the commissioners that roughly half a dozen other road projects will likely have priority over the Dovetail Road relocation. He said he will do cost calculations for the Brady proposal so the county can better evaluate timing and materials needs.
No formal funding commitment or timeline was approved at the meeting; commissioners recorded that staff would return with cost estimates and continued road maintenance work would proceed on higher‑priority projects.
