The Rolla City Council voted April 15 to adopt the Turtle Mountain Tourism Alliance Charter following a quarterly update from the Joint Development Authority.
Rebekah Bryant, JDA director, and Dawn Fitzgerald, JDA president, presented the update and outlined expected benefits of participating in the alliance, saying it would help coordinate regional tourism efforts and support local promotion. On a motion by Councilmember Paul Frydenlund, seconded by Damond Schemmel, the council voted to adopt the charter; the roll call in the minutes records all members as voting "Aye."
The charter adoption has the council formally joining the alliance; the JDA leaders asked the city to work with partner communities and tourism stakeholders on next steps. The vote authorizes city staff and the JDA to proceed with implementing the charter provisions as applicable.
The council did not record a dollar amount tied to the adoption during the meeting. The council moved on to other agenda items after the JDA presentation. The city auditor will include the charter adoption in the next meeting packet for any required administrative follow-up.
