North Bay trustees approve $13,300 pavement plan and $8,100 creek-bank stabilization ahead of generator upgrade

The Village of North Bay Board of Trustees voted July 17 to approve two maintenance contracts aimed at preserving roads and preparing for a planned power upgrade at Village Hall.

Trustee Paul Schroeder presented an Ayres proposal dated June 20, 2025, for the 2025 Pavement Maintenance Program in the amount of $13,300. Trustee Schroeder moved to approve the Ayres bid, including unit-pricing language; Constable Rocco Castellano seconded and the motion carried with all members voting in favor.

Trustee Rick Cermak told the board that the creek bank adjacent to Village Hall must be stabilized before the village proceeds with three-phase power and a generator installation. The board reviewed VASSSH Estimate #1035 (dated July 10, 2025) for $8,100 to stabilize the bank. Trustee Cermak moved to accept the estimate with work to be completed prior to the power upgrade; Constable Castellano seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

During discussion, the board examined a sewer flow issue tied to the Lighthouse Drive lift station and noted the source appeared to be 3737 Lighthouse Drive; Trustee Cermak explained, “a lateral is the sewer line extending from the municipal system to a house,” and said most houses do not have private lift stations. Trustees said further investigation of the lateral/old connection will continue as staff and trustees assess the lift station and related repairs.

Several other maintenance items were noted for later action, including repainting of the village sign and follow-up on beach-stair and bluffs issues.
