Commission notes demolition request at 200 Green Street; structure not eligible for delay

Chair Bob Light told the commission that the building department had forwarded a demolition request for a garage at 200 Green Street, a vacant lot near Green Street. Light said the garage appears to date from the 1970s and is not 100 years old, so it would not meet the commission's bylaw criteria for a demolition-delay process or public hearing.
"It doesn't look historic to me," Light said, adding that the commission should be kept in the loop when demolitions are filed so members can determine whether further action is needed. He noted that, while the structure is not eligible for a delay, commissioners may still discuss demolition matters as private citizens or raise preservation concerns with other town boards.
Commissioners also noted nearby conservation land and trails and agreed to monitor the planning board agenda for related items, including a scenic-road wall removal at 17 Green Street that has been postponed to the planning board's July meeting.
