Fulton County commissioners approve ODOT-backed resurfacing, Motorola contract and zoning amendment; cancel two July sessions

Fulton County commissioners voted unanimously on July 2 to approve a slate of routine resolutions, including an ODOT-funded resurfacing agreement for County Road 14, a contract with Motorola Solutions for the sheriff's office, certification of a zoning-map amendment to proceed to public hearing, and the cancellation of two July meetings.
The board approved LPA Agreement #44416 (ODOT PID# 118979) to fund resurfacing work on Fulton County Road 14. The agreement, described in the resolution, will pay 80% of project costs up to $2,000,000 under ODOT's Local Public Agency policy. Commissioner R.J. Lumbrezer moved the measure; Commissioner Jeff Rupp seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
The commissioners also authorized Contract 2026-60 with Motorola Solutions Inc. on behalf of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office for an Astro SUA II system upgrade, including implementation and training. Commissioner Joe Short made the motion and Commissioner Lumbrezer seconded; the measure passed 3-0.
On land-use matters, the board certified a request from the Fulton County Rural Zoning Commission to amend the zoning map for parcel 10-019908-01.000, changing its designation from M1 to AG/RE so a single-family dwelling can be sited on the property. Andrea Gerken told the board that the parcel was formerly a chicken farm and that the new owner seeks to put a house on the site; under the current zoning the house would not be permitted. The certification authorizes the matter to proceed to a public hearing under Ohio Revised Code Section 303.12. Commissioner Jeff Rupp moved the certification; Commissioner Lumbrezer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
The board also voted to cancel its regular sessions set for July 21 and July 23, 2026, citing a lack of quorum. Finally, commissioners approved a purchase-order edit list prepared by the county auditor and authorized submitted travel requests; the board agreed that the edit list will be kept on file in the commissioners' office in lieu of journalizing each purchase order. Those measures were adopted 3-0.
All recorded motions in the session passed by a 3-0 vote. The board adjourned following the routine items. Jessica Schuette attested to the meeting minutes.
