At its June 22 meeting the Ogdensburg Mayor and Council adopted Resolutions 66‑2026 and 67‑2026 authorizing submission of grant applications to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for Kennedy Avenue Resurfacing Phase 2 and for Arch Street and Wausau Street resurfacing.
The measures were adopted by roll call with unanimous support and are on file in the clerk’s office. Public‑works and finance liaisons were assigned follow‑up tasks to file the grant applications and execute contracts if funds are awarded.
Separately, the council discussed traffic‑safety measures: Police Chief Sanfilippo reported parking on both sides of Bridge Street and Plant Street is blocking driveways and could prevent fire or ambulance access. He suggested amending Chapter 7‑14 to prohibit parking on the northwest side of Bridge Street from Bridge to Plant Street and placing signage (including warnings of enhanced penalties where applicable).
Attorney Joseph Maddaloni explained the borough must amend the specific traffic‑code section that governs overweight vehicles to impose weight restrictions and that enhanced statutory penalties apply where a street grade exceeds 5 percent. Chief Sanfilippo said most candidate roads qualify for enhanced penalties except Plant Street and Brooks Flat. Maddaloni will draft the ordinance for council consideration, and signage must alert drivers to any enhanced penalties.
