Borough of Ogdensburg adopts resolution to allow private fireworks displays

The Borough of Ogdensburg Mayor and Council voted unanimously June 18 to adopt Resolution 61-2026, authorizing fireworks displays on private property pursuant to N.J.S.A. 21:3-3.
Councilman DeMeo moved to adopt the resolution and Councilwoman Cowdrick seconded the motion. The council recorded four yes votes — Ciasullo, Cowdrick, DeMeo and Lame (via phone) — with Council members Gandarinho and Gordon listed as absent. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
Mayor George P. Hutnick opened the meeting and read the statutory notice on public meetings, saying, “Notice requirements of P.L. 1975, Open Public Meeting Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4- et.seq. have been satisfied with a schedule of all meetings, together with the time, location and agenda of same being sent to the NEW JERSEY HERALD and NEW JERSEY SUNDAY HERALD on June 15, 2026, posted on the Borough Website on June 16, 2026, and posted on the bulletin board in the Borough Hall on June 15, 2026.”
The special meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. at 14 Highland Ave and adjourned at approximately 7:02 p.m. The minutes record the formal adoption of Resolution 61-2026; the text of the resolution and any implementing conditions were not included in the minutes.
