Council defers formal complaint between neighbors over vehicles, schedules fuller review in August

At the July 2 meeting the Council heard a formal complaint from Karen and Mac Arnold alleging violations of Clifton's town code relating to non-functioning vehicles and vehicle parking at the property of Alexia and Darrell Poe.
Bill Hollaway presented the correspondence; the Poes responded in writing and Alexia Poe told the Council she and Darrell Poe have attempted to remedy prior concerns and that any non-drivable vehicles on their property are covered. Hollaway reminded the Council that Clifton maintains its own ordinance requirements separate from Fairfax County.
Council members asked factual questions about the number of vehicles, town tags, safety inspections and property taxes. After brief discussion the Council agreed it was not ready to adjudicate the grievance and voted unanimously to place discussion of the Arnolds' formal complaint on the agenda for the August 2013 regular meeting.
The minutes record the complaint and the Council's procedural decision to defer consideration; no enforcement action or finding was recorded on July 2.
